Aileen Wilkerson Turnbull, 96, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, May 25, 2021. She was born in Paris, Texas on March 14, 1925 to Henry and Linnie Mae Wilkerson. She married John R. Turnbull on March 29, 1947.Her parents both died before Aileen's high school graduation. She was also preceded in death by husband John, and siblings, sisters Opal, Jean and Florene and brother, Henry.Aileen is survived by three generations of family. Her children: Rick, Scott, Jane, Mark and Kay. Her grandchildren: Luke, Heartsong, Tiffany, Tyler, Matt and Phillip. Her great grandchildren: Harper, Gryphon, James, Mason, Olivia, Norah, Abigail and Lucas.Aileen was a long time resident of Oklahoma City. She attended Oklahoma University, where she met her husband John. After two years of marriage, she was just a few credits away from receiving a diploma but instead happily welcomed her first baby. The dean of women at OU wrote a letter to Aileen expressing praise for her thirst for education unequaled to most women of her time. She was a straight "A" student, majoring in English and worked secretarial jobs to pay her own way.As the first president of the Presbyterian Hospital auxiliary called the pink ladies and candy stripers, she recruited her children as volunteers. She was an active participant in the Pleasant Hill PTA, Forest Park Garden Club, and Quail Creek association. Aileen became an elder of First Presbyterian Church in 1971 and thereafter held trustee positions, leader in her circle and faithful member of her Sunday school class. Her career grew by leaps and bounds as a real estate broker for Metro Mark realtors. After her husband retired, the loving couple enjoyed traveling the world together.The visitation and funeral for Aileen will be held on Friday, June 4t h at First Presbyterian Church located at 1001 NW 25t h Street, Oklahoma City, Ok 73106. The visitation will begin at 12:00 pm in the parlor and the memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm in the chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to lntegris Hospice in Aileen's name.
