Alfred Daniel Konarik joined his wife Shirley Konarik and father and mother, Rudy and Agnes Konarik in heaven on November 2, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1938, in Hillsboro, Kansas. He married Shirley Freeman in 1958 and moved to Oklahoma City in 1962. They joined St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and were longtime members living across the street from Rosary Catholic School raising their three sons. They were married for 42 years before her passing in 2001. In 2010, he married Patty Sellars Couture, who was also a member of St. Francis.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Patty, three sons Steve and his wife Kelley, Jim and his wife Suzanne, and Doug and his wife Sheri, two grandchildren Katie Folks and her husband Brad and Tyler Konarik and his wife Kaitlyn, five great grandchildren, Ben, Charlotte, Camden, Caroline and Millie, two step grandchildren Karey Wise and Matthew Wise, a step great grandchild Henley, his brother Robert and his wife Karen, sister Mary Theresa Griffith, his nephews and nieces Marie Howell and her husband Chris, Michelle Griffith, John and Jessica Griffith, William and Stephanie Griffith, Don Freeman, Bernie and Kathy Freeman, Ron and Arlene Freeman, and Debbie Atkins and husband Alan, and many other great nieces and nephews, and the many Sellars family members including Patty’s children, Ann, John, Patsy, Janet, Margaret, Mary Jean who made him feel like a true member of their family. He was predeceased by his brother Albert, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Margaret Freeman, brother-in-law John Griffith, and nieces Cheryl Moses and Euline Freeman.
He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in which he was a previous Grand Knight. He was also an usher and Eucharistic minister and especially enjoyed conversations at coffee and donuts after mass. He was a very faithful person. He and Patty would pray for their deceased spouses every night as well as for all their relatives and friends. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren play sports and would travel long distances at high rates of speed to not be late for a game. He loved playing cards, and we all enjoyed hearing the stories of games he played with relatives and friends, including both of his spouses that would routinely beat him. He enjoyed returning to his Kansas home to celebrate “Old Settler’s Day” and never missed a chance to attend a Marion High School reunion and catch-up with his lifelong friends. He was a salesperson by profession and did very well due to his qualities of honesty and being trustworthy. He loved to talk to people but was also a very good listener. He always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. We will miss him saying “come see an old man sometime”.
The family wants to thank Concordia Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living and Providence Hospice for the loving care he received this year.
