Alice Eileen (Maher) Oltmanns

Alice Eileen Maher was born July 29, 1931, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas A. and Margaret (McNulty) Maher. She passed from this life on September 4, 2020, in Oklahoma City.Eileen attended St. Agnes Academy and Ardmore High School. She graduated from St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She and James Oltmanns were married on November 29, 1952, in Oklahoma City. They established their home Crescent, Oklahoma, where she raised 5 children and continued her nursing career.Upon retirement, Eileen moved to Oklahoma City and spent much of her time traveling and with her family. She was a lifelong Catholic, enjoyed the Lyric and Jewel Box Theaters, St. Elizabeth's Guild and several book clubs.Eileen is survived by her children, Ann Fields (Wayne), Nancy Dodson (Tony), and Gretchen Vella (Dan); her grandchildren, Amanda Means (Steve), Ashley Abel (Adam), Allie and Catherine Dodson, Logan Nichelson, and Elizabeth Smith; her son-in-law, Gary Sowell; and sister, Betty Ann Bellinghausen.Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; children, James Christian Oltmanns and Rebecca Jane Sowell; brothers, Thomas, John, and Dennis Maher; and sisters, Nora Margaret Wiles and Patricia Norcross.Devotion of the Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020, at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 11, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, Eileen's family requests contributions be made to Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City.
