Anna Lee Kurtz

Anna Lee Kurtz, 101, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 9, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 7, 1922, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Frank H. Yust and Betty L. Yust. She graduated from Holy Family High School in Tulsa where she and Russell Sam Kurtz were high school sweethearts after meeting at a roller-skating rink. During World War II, she worked for the United States Department of War in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas and then at Hamilton Field in California. Anna Lee enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, dancing, birds, and volunteering at her church and other organizations. Her main interest and love were her family. In The Mood was her favorite song and Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, because it is family focused. Her words of wisdom to younger people: “Stay active, be positive and always be willing to help others!”

Kurtz and daughter-in-law Lane Campbell; daughter, Jo Ellen Newman; grandchildren, Natalie Nychay and Samuel Newman; great-grandchildren, Brittany Bentley, Carlee Risley, and Grant Risley; and great-great-grandchildren, Mason Martinez and Brielle Lino.
