Arthur Hubert "Buster" Thomas, age 88, passed away peacefully in his home on August 4, 2025. Born August 17, 1936, Buster was one of seven children of Ketty and Alvan Thomas. A devoted husband to his wife, Marge, of 66 years, Buster lived a life filled with love, family, friends, and faith.
He was a caring father to Connie (Mike), Brad (Cindy), Byron (deceased), and Jeff (Davina). He leaves behind a legacy of warmth as a loving grandfather to Sammi, Reid, Katie, Justin, Emily, Heather, Chris, Nick, Jacob, and Hannah. Great-grandfather to Wyatt, Arlo, Oliver, Malcom, Lincoln, Paige, Brooklyn, Paxton, Colten, Pierce, Kendra, Cash, Zachery, Becket, Taylor, Ely, Esra, Sunny, Samuel, and one great-great grandchild, Conway.
Always a kid at heart, Buster understood the pure, timeless joy that could be found in toys, Disney movies, clever knick-knacks, and the natural world. He had a passion for tinkering and fixing things, always keeping a large supply of assorted batteries on hand for the kids’ toys.
His generous spirit and unwavering devotion to his loved ones will be deeply missed.
A wake service will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (14624 N. May Ave, OKC) on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:30 AM (8005 Dorset Dr., OKC).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to "Center of Family Love" located at 635 Texas Ave, Okarche, OK, or your favorite charity.
From Buster's friend, Bart Cronin:
"Buster attended grade school at John Carroll, then Central Catholic High School, and was a military veteran. He was one of the 'originals' at Friday Lunch, started way back by Larry Shaw. When past classmates from out of town visited OKC, they would stop at Shaw's print shop on 65th and N. May. Larry wanted to enjoy these moments without work interruption and to accommodate the CHS crowd, so he created a noon lunch at Cousin's Bar and Grill (nearby, across May Ave) for good food and great conversation. Lots of catch-up and a few tall tales. It was a wonderful exchange of fellowship, and I regret that I was only able to attend multiple times.
At one of my visits, I can remember at least 12 guys in attendance from the 50's classes at CHS. Dick Cooper most likely has the best memory of those events.
This is just one of the voids that Buster will leave. Marge and his family had to say goodbye to a wonderful person, someone who was never a 'limelighter' but a solid friend who was always there if you needed him. I will miss the phone calls and lunch visits with Marge and Buster."
