Belinda Beth Speights, 64, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away at home on Monday, August 4th, 2025, after her courageous three-year battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
Belinda was born in Lubbock, Texas on August 10,1960 to Robert and Elizabeth Burgess. ‘Boo’ as she was affectionately known, was the oldest of their four children, Becky, Brenda, Bobby and she spent her childhood living in Texas, Demark and Oklahoma. After graduating with honors from Sweetwater High School and Abilene Christian University, she moved to Oklahoma in the mid-80s and began working as a cosmetic sales representative. Her vivacious personality, determination and creativity led to a successful, award-winning career in pharmaceutical sales. It was in Oklahoma City where Belinda met her prince, Jerry. They were married on November 12, 1988, and started their wonderful family in 1990. After moving to St. Louis in 2003 and Atlanta in 2009, they returned home to Oklahoma City in 2011.
Belinda was a devoted wife, mother and friend, known for her radiant smile and cheerful attitude. Her creativity, resilience and independence began at an early age; as a child she wove a headband from clover and traveled each day to her Copenhagen elementary school by bicycle and train. Over the years, she combined her creativity with genuine compassion, frequently crafting hats, shirts, pillows and other thoughtful gifts for friends and family. Her love and pride for her husband and precious children, Paige and Matt, was selfless and unconditional. She deeply valued her parents, siblings, and extended family and much like her care for flowers, Belinda cultivated loving friendships with her local and Grand Lake friends, ladies golf family, and cancer community.
Throughout her battle with cancer, Belinda remained courageous and hopeful, showing unwavering grace and forming lasting bonds with those who cared for her. She refused to let cancer define her, instead choosing to inspire others along her journey.
Special thanks to Dr. Aleda Toma and her wonderfully dedicated and loving team.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Project 31, a local breast cancer organization that helps restore women, families, marriages, and relationships suffering the effects of breast cancer.
