Bernadine Abernathy

Bernadine Abernathy passed away peacefully July 16, 2025 in Midwest City. She was born January 9, 1941 in Okmulgee, OK to Joseph and Ophelia LeBlanc, number 11 of 12 children.

She graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1959. After graduating, Bernie moved to Oklahoma City where she met the love of her life, Albert Abernathy. They were married May 23, 1964. They had three children and raised them in Midwest City. She later went to work at what is now called Old Republic Title Company for over 40 years. Bernie was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister and proud member of The Golden Angels. Bernie loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Joseph, Hubert, Ralph, Bernard, Francis, Agnes, Walter, Vincent and Martin. She is survived by husband Albert; children Anthony and wife Sally and son Ashton; Stephanie Abernathy and sons Blaine Elder and Gage Elder; and Stephen and wife Sheril and daughters McKaena and Jaely. Also, her sister JoAnn Irwin, brother Raymond; great grandson Tyson Elder; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday July 21, 2025 at 5:00pm at St Philip Neri Catholic Church 1107 Felix Pl Midwest City followed by a prayer service at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday July 22, 2025 at 10:30am also at St Philip Neri Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
