Blake Akin

Blake Charles Akin, 24, passed away on June 16, 2026. He was born on June 8, 2002, in Reno, Nevada, and spent his early childhood years there before moving to Oklahoma with his family in 2013.

Blake graduated from Sayre High School in 2020, where he excelled academically and earned recognition as an Academic Team All-Star and MVP. He was a member of the marching band and jazz band where they received many awards and accolades. His intelligence, dedication, and competitive spirit were evident in everything he pursued.

In 2021, Blake joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard and completed Basic Training with Unit: C Company, 1st Battalion 179th Infantry, Oklahoma National Guard as Specialist ranking. He proudly served his state and country, participating in volunteering wherever needed and earning the respect and admiration of fellow service members and community members alike.

Blake was known for his willingness to help others, a strong sense of duty, and commitment to serving those in need.

He was currently working to complete his college education.

Blake is survived by his mother, Cora L. Rizley; father, Jerry D. Akin Jr.; beloved brother, John Patrick Akin (J.P.); stepfather, Harold Kim Rizley; stepsister, Konner G. Rizley; grandmothers, Alice J. Foor-Eakle, and Georgia D. Taylor; step-grandparents, Albert Keith and Sharon K. Rizley, Ray Taylor, Dr. Jeanne Akin; aunt and uncles, Lt. Col. Patrick M. Foor (ret) and Teresa Foor, Jason Hamilton; step aunt and uncle, Kevin and Rebecca Rizley. He was preceded in death by grandfathers, Charles V. Foor and Jerry D. Akin Sr.; great grandparents, John Leonard “Pepper” Martin, Ruby A. Martin, and Amelia Cooper; aunt and uncle, Julie D. Hamilton and Rich L. Akin.

He is also survived by many beloved cousins and dear friends.

Though his life was far too short, Blake’s legacy of service, compassion, and dedication will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day, unseen.

Memorial services are set for Thursday June 25, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith and Kernke Chapel on N. May Ave. Please check back for further details.
