Our dear mother, Brenda Joyce Myers, sadly passed away on February 24, 2024. Born August 9, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia, she was adopted at the age of three by her loving parents, Hugh and Lucy Stevens. She grew up as an only child in Oklahoma City attending Southeast High School, graduating in 1964. Brenda was very active in her church growing up where she developed a self-taught talent for piano. Her ability to listen and recreate music was amazing. She married her loving husband, Larry E. Myers in 1972 and lived in Oklahoma City until relocating to Florida in the early 90s. After losing her mother in the early 80s, Brenda decided, alongside two very dear friends, to pursue her quest to find her birth mother, whom she located in Ohio. She was pleasantly surprised to have 4 siblings, two brothers and one sister who she found and grew very close with over the years. Not to mention several nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, Brenda and her siblings were unable to locate the remaining child who was placed into adoption. She loved to tell the story of the Judge that opened her adoption file in the 1980s who just so happened to be the son of the Judge that signed her initial adoption papers in 1949. Ironically, his mother was the social worker who initially placed Brenda in two foster homes prior to her adoption.
Brenda was an extremely proud mother of Kent and Darbi, who she loved dearly. Along with raising her children, she worked in the medical field for several years in administration and finished up her career in the hospitality industry as Vice-President of Operations. Brenda loved life, she enjoyed her friends and get-togethers; even creating a ladies poker group for a monthly girl’s night that she was proud to call “Knights at the Round Table”. She had an amazing sense of humor. In fact, the combination of her and Larry together would leave the crowd in stitches. They were perfect for each other. She was adored and loved by so many that came to know her. Brenda was positive and uplifting to her family and friends; always living by the Golden Rule, do unto to others. Although our hearts are filled with great sadness with the loss of our beloved mother/grandmother and friend, we know she lived life to the fullest and would want us all to celebrate her now. She will forever be missed but her legacy will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Brenda was strong in her faith and without a doubt knew her place for everlasting life in the Kingdom of God. John 3:16
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry of 33 years, who passed away in 2005. Survived by her two children, Terry Kent Roberson and wife, Kim, of Tampa, Florida, and daughter, Darbi Williams/David Ranney of Edmond, Oklahoma. She adored her four grandchildren, Meagan Roberson of Moore, Cameron Perkins and wife, Kelsi of Edmond, Tyler Williams and wife, Miranda of Edmond, Morgan Kate Williams of Edmond and 6 great grandchildren, Haley, Addyson, Ryder, Kaysen, Eleanora and Theodore.
