Brent Waguespack

Roy Brent Waguespack was born July 29, 1951 to Roy T. Waguespack and Connie O. Waguespack in Tulsa, OK. He was soon joined by his sister, Lisa Joy. His dad coached him as a pitcher in baseball, he played football in junior high, and became a state champion swimmer in High School. Marci and Brent first crossed paths in Intermediate Algebra. They then became High School sweethearts after Marci asked Brent to a "Sadie Hawkins" dance. Brent became an OU Sooner and earned his BBA. Marci followed and they married in 1972. They moved back to Tulsa for Marci to do a Med Tech Internship, and Brent went back to school at OSU Tech to study electronics. In 1977, they returned to OKC and he accepted a job with Control Data/ Honeywell, which eventually changed names again before becoming BancTec. He became more interested in computers and became a certified specialist and eventually a LAN Engineer for NCED/US Postal Service. It was during high school that Brent dedicated his life to Christ. In his adult church life, he taught adult Sunday school, sang in the choir, served on the mowing team, and served as a Youth prayer partner. Brent volunteered in many areas. He was a Reading Tutor with Elementary students at Harvest Hills Literacy Program, he volunteered with the American Red Cross after the last big Moore tornado and volunteered with the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. After a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma in 2018, he underwent chemotherapy and a Stem Cell transplant. He had happily been in remission for the last 4 years. His "retirement" job was as a school crossing guard at DD Kirkland Elementary School. There he felt much appreciated by the parents, students and staff. He came home with a new "kid" story almost every night.Brent has always been devoted to his family. He was a great son, brother, husband, Dad and Poppie. His legacy is his family; he and his wife Marci celebrated their 50th anniversary in January of 2022. He is survived by his son Martin Edward Waguespack, his daughter Laura Emily, and son-in-law Jim Labus, grandson Luke Broderick, and granddaughters Madelynn Joy, and Nora Jane Labus. He is best loved by his kid sister Lisa Sykes, and brother-in-law Donnie Sykes, sister-in-law Marianne Adams, brother-in-law Ray Sinclair, brother-in-law Bob Baker, and all of his extended family.A memorial service to celebrate Roy's life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 10600 N.
