Carolyn Sue McCoy, née Bowman, was born on July 5, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sue was the only child of Talma Hafflin “Sam” and M. Evelyn Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Survived by Pamela and Robert Post, Myla and Brett Stevens their children Quinn and June Stevens. Mara Kathleen Nelson. Lori Ann McCoy. Debbi McCoy and Patrick Nolan their children Erin and Kylie Nolan.

A graduate of Southeast High School, Sue attended the University of Oklahoma receiving a bachelor’s degree in Business Education and a master’s degree in Educational Guidance. She became a member of the Upsilon chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity. While attending college Sue met and married her husband, Robert D. McCoy on January 25, 1959.

They were married for 49 years, until 2008 at the time of his death. Sue remained a fan of OU and all their teams throughout her life. She enjoyed attending and watching the football games and in recent years became a softball fan.

For many years Sue supported and served on the board of her fraternity, Alpha Gamma Delta in Norman. Sue was recognized for her years of service earning the Honors of the Arc of Epsilon Pi with Diamonds and Pearl. She was also an active member of the Oklahoma City Panhellenic Association. She served the organization as President in 1992. She was honored as their Woman of the Year in 1994, citing a lifetime of service to many charitable organizations when honoring her.

Sue spent many years as a volunteer and leader for the Heart of Oklahoma Camp Fire Girls. She was affectionately known as Miss Terminator at Camp DaKaNi for many summers.

Because of her years of service, Sue was honored in 1999 with a Lifetime Membership from the Heart of Oklahoma Council Camp Fire for Outstanding Service to Youth.

In her later years Sue became a docent at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Eventually she was hired in the education department, giving tours to and working with students at the museum. She loved western art and enjoyed meeting and collecting art from visiting artists.

Sue was a world traveler all of her life. She loved exploring new countries and returning to her favorites many times. One of the highlights of her travels was going to Australia with her husband and parents to see Halley’s Comet. Sue traveled to the Holy Land with Lamb and Lion Ministries, a place she loved and returned to numerous times throughout her life.

Sue enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She was a very talented artist, she decorated eggs and enjoyed photography. She was an active member of her Christian Woman’s Club for years. She was also a lifelong Mahjong and Rummikub player.
