Carolyn Larson Sharp, 83, died November 2, 2025. She was married for 50 years to John Fletcher Sharp Jr. who died March 29, 2025. Carolyn was born on April 29, 1942 in Oklahoma City to Roy and Eleanor Larson. She was a fourth generation Oklahoman- her grandfather, Andrew Hanson made the 1889 Land Run and settled his family in Oklahoma City in 1889.
Carolyn grew up in the Crown Heights neighborhood in Oklahoma City. She attended John Carroll grade school and graduated from Harding High school in 1960. She attended Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin. In 1964, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma, where she became a member of Theta Sigma Phi, the national fraternity for women in journalism. Carolyn was awarded a graduate certificate in communications from The American University, and she was listed in “Foremost Women in Communications”.
Carolyn loved to travel. After college, she worked as a stewardess for Pan American Airways. Pan Am gave her the opportunity to travel to six continents and visit over eighty different countries while she was still in the “Under 30” generation. Carolyn was a longtime member of World Wings International; the philanthropic organization of former Pan Am flight attendants.
For several years she was on the editorial staff of the National Council for the Social Studies, a national affiliate of the National Education Association. She wrote a column for its magazine and edited and designed books, such as Focus on Geography and Values Education.
Carolyn was a dedicated wife to Fletcher Sharp, and a caring mother to Christina Sharp and Jay Sharp.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park Cemetery.
