Charles Foster "Buddy" Cox, Jr

Charles Foster "Buddy" Cox: husband, stepfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed on June 16, 2021.He was born to Charles and Nanette Cox on June 5, 1944. After graduating Minden High School, he left for college at the University of Arkansas, where he achieved his B.S. and B.A. in finance. He then pursued a juris doctorate at the University of Oklahoma, which he completed in 1966.He practiced law for 50 years in 16 states, 2 American territories, and 2 foreign countries. In 1985 he argued a case before the United States Supreme Court. This was one of the highlights of his career. He served as president of the Oklahoma County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 2006 to 2009.He enjoyed his family, cooking good food, golfing, flying kites, and politics.He is survived by his wife Kathryn Janelle, stepson Nathan & wife Chloé and their son Caleb; stepdaughter Victoria Leigh & husband John and their children Gavin and Ashlynn; sister Nancy & husband B.W.; nephews John Lamar & wife Shelia, Charles Foster & wife Kelly; and 4 great nephews.The family wishes to thank the staff of Traditions Hospice and Storey Oaks Memory Care for the exemplary service.A celebration of his life is scheduled for 1:30PM on June 23, 2021 at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (1401 NW 23rd Street, OKC, OK 73106). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Jesus House or St. Jude Foundation.
