On August 22, 2021, our beloved Mother, Granny, Great-Granny, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Christituta "Katie" Baker of Oklahoma City (formerly Stillwater) passed away after a brief battle with Cancer. Katie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 24, 1942, a daughter of Nicasio and Consolacion Lapinid. She married Charles L. Baker on March 23rd, 1963 and became a proud military wife. A loving mother and homemaker, Katie was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was a dedicated softball mom taking care of the girls and cheering them on. But her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Katie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Baker and two brothers, Edward Lapinid and Nicasio Lapinid Jr. Katie is survived by 3 daughters, Tina Slovak (Doug) of Derby, KS, Cathy Doyle (Dan) of Dallas, TX, and Corie Mills (Josh) of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Kayla Slovak, Kara Cooper, Kendall Slovak, Ashlynn Doyle, Garrett Doyle, Noelani Doyle, and Tenley Mills, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Josephine Ponce, Cyrilla Oaks, and Dolores "Dolly" Lapinid and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. An Evening Prayer Service will be held on Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at 6:00 pm at Smith and Kernke N. May Ave. in Oklahoma City, OK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 30th at St. Eugene's Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, OK. In Lieu of Flowers, please consider making a gift in Katie's memory to Catholic Charities in Oklahoma City at CCaokc.org.
