Claire Corey, 96, passed away on August 1, 2026, in Oklahoma City after a period of declining health.
She and her husband Leonard lived at Sand Point on Lake Texoma for over 40 years. They were members of the Church of Christ and Claire was also active in many area clubs and organizations. As an older adult she enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University to study art. She earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education degree. As an award-winning artist she painted in oils and later challenged herself with watercolors. Claire was known for her precise brushwork and use of color.
In later years she moved to Oklahoma City where she lived independently until just months before her passing.
Claire was loved for her sweet nature and kindness and admired for her resilience of spirit. She will be missed by her three daughters, three grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces, a nephew, a sister-in-law, and her special friends.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, and a granddaughter.
A service will be held at Smith and Kernke N. May Chapel in Oklahoma City on August 7, 2026, at 10:00AM. A viewing and time of fellowship will begin at 9:00AM before the service. Burial will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton, Oklahoma at 3:00PM.
