Col. Warren Mansfield Schaub, Retired

Warren M. Schaub passed away April 21, 2021. He was born Dec. 9, 1926, in Muskogee, OK, the son of Dwight Fredrick and Frances (Warren) Schaub.He entered the US Navy at age 17 with his parents' permission and served two years during WWII. After receiving an honorable discharge, he finished high school prior to attending OU on his GI Bill. Warren earned a Bachelors degree in business management from OU and was active in Kappa Sigma Fraternity as well as Sword and Sabre. He then entered the US Army as an officer in Artillery. He served in both Korea and Vietnam. Among his many assignments he served on the staff of the Inspector General in Washington, D.C.; as well as being the Deputy Post Commander for Intramural and Extra Curricular Activities at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. Returning to Oklahoma, his last station was as Senior Army Advisor to the Oklahoma National Guard where he retired in 1979 as a Colonel. After retiring, he worked at the State Capitol indexing bills.Warren was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital for many years in the Pharmacy. He earned a special certificate for compounding pharmaceuticals. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and volunteered at Dwight Mission, a Christian Summer camp where he taught the history of the camp. He enjoyed travelling from Alaska, the Amazon river, Scotland, the Panama Canal, and had the honor of flying to Washington D.C. on the honor flights for WWII Vets.He is survived by two children, Heidi Sathers and Tom Schaub; his sister, Francie Turnure; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Wells, Kendall Blunt and Riley Sathers; one great granddaughter; and several extended family.Friends may visit at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 27 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. The funeral will be at Smith & Kernke Wednesday, April 28 at 11 a.m. A graveside service with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko.
