David Gerald Bryant

David "Dave" Gerald Bryant was born in St Louis, Missouri on March 1st, 1931. He passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 13th 2021 at the age of 90. Dave will be remembered for his kind demeanor, thoughtful sense of humor, and passion for the outdoors. A veteran of the Korean War, Dave served as a typist, honing his literary craft while in service to his country. His talent for writing shines through the countless letters to his family when at war and during his studies at the University of Oklahoma (OU). His sense of humor was especially on display during his time in Norman, where he was known for his playful pranks. Dave would regale his family and his beloved Jeanne with various tales of mischief from college days. He earned a Master's of Science in Geology degree from OU in 1955 and began his career as a geologist with Magnolia Petroleum Company, following his passion for the oil business. His decades-long career took him and his family too many cities, including Dallas, Wichita, and Denver. He ultimately returned to Oklahoma City to finish his career and enjoy retirement with Jeanne.Dave loved spending time outdoors and exploring new, beautiful landscapes through his many hobbies - golf, hiking, camping, bird watching, and expeditions to the Oklahoma City Zoo with his grandchildren. He and Jeanne enjoyed traveling the world together, from an African Safari to many of America's national parks, including a memorable trip to the Grand Tetons where the whole family combined forces to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Anyone who knows Dave also knows that he was an avid fan of the University of Oklahoma Sooners. He attended every home football game, cheering on his team from his favorite seats and making long-time friends with those around him. Dave was an incredibly patient, caring, and humble man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jeanne Bryant, and brother Ellis Bryant. He is survived by his three sons, Steven Bryant, Michael Bryant and his wife Roxanne, Joel Bryant and his wife English, his sister, Josephine Bryant, six grandchildren, Steven, Andrews, Lauren, Pierce, Matthew, and Carter, and two great grandchildren, Hattie and Tripp . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave's name may be made to the charity of your choice. The family proudly celebrated Dave's life in a private ceremony on Saturday, May 8th, 2021.
