David Wayne Humphrey, 74, passed away peacefully the morning of May 9, 2026. He was born November 3, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas to Betty and Bill Humphrey. He grew up in Kansas City, Miami and Stillwater, Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he met Marjorie Ward, the love of his life, and made life-long friends and lasting memories. Margie and David married on August 21, 1976 and made Oklahoma City their home.
David’s outgoing personality and gift of conversation made him well suited for sales. He enjoyed a career in pharmaceutical sales with Ross Laboratories for 31 years. He remained close friends with his colleagues and the many nurses and doctors he called on across the state.
David was a devoted husband, father, Hapa, and loyal friend. He was an engaged and active father and grandfather. He appreciated the simple things in life - spending time with his family, keeping up with friends, and being outdoors. He loved vacations to the beach, snow skiing, fly-fishing, horseback riding, a Sunday afternoon cigar, and rooting for the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. He shared his love of music with his children, attending concerts and shoulder rolling whenever a dance floor presented itself. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife, Margie; his daughter, Lauren and husband Gino Paternostro; his son, Ryan and wife Leah; his brother, Larry and wife Kay; and four beautiful grandchildren Annabelle and Leo Paternostro and Iva and Faye Humphrey, along with numerous extended family members, fraternity brothers and friends who will miss him dearly.
