De'Lene Elizabeth Moore

De’Lene Elizabeth Frizzell Moore was born on November 12th, 1964 in Oklahoma City, OK to John and Colene Frizzell. She passed away peacefully at home on May 4th, 2025 in Oklahoma City, OK after a long and brave battle with metastatic breast cancer.

De’Lene grew up in Oklahoma City with a childhood filled with softball, summer camps, boating, water and snow skiing, Wesley United Methodist youth group activities, and even served as her high school band’s drum major. She graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1983, where she was famous for her 1969 orange Fiat convertible. Her first love was animals and she moved on to get an associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 1985 from Murray State College. After graduating, it was a move to Stillwater, OK in the summer of 1985 to work at the OSU veterinary hospital that led to her meeting her future husband Dennis Ray Moore. After meeting at Tumbleweeds on June 6th, they knew they would be inseparable from that point on. They were married on October 26th, 1985, and their son Andrew Justin Ray was born the following year.

Caring for those around her came naturally to De’Lene, which eventually led to her passion for nursing. After graduating from Central State University with a B.S.N. and working for several years in the Labor & Delivery unit at Presbyterian Hospital, she attended the O.U. College of Nursing to get her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She then went on to work at the Oklahoma City Clinic as an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner for approximately 20 years. She helped to care for many women during their pregnancies, several of whom she kept in contact with for many years. Her favorite part of her practice was teaching NP students and young first time moms, even winning a federal grant to teach teenage moms how to quilt & in the process what to expect when the baby was delivered. She also enjoyed traveling to Mexico as part of volunteer teams to provide medical services to the medically under-resourced. She finished her practice doing general family medicine at Southern Plains Medical Center in Chickasha, a late career change that she found challenging and exciting.

De’Lene will always be remembered for her creative and craft-loving spirit. She never called herself an artist, but her creations were undeniably works of art. She was a crafting queen; a gifted seamstress, baker, quilter, upholsterer, home renovator, scrapbooker, leather worker, and truly anything she decided to do. Creating not for herself, but instead producing presents for people she loved. She gave a piece of herself with every creation making cherished memories tangible. Crafting can be easy, but the ability to create from the heart takes real talent. It was important to share the process with people, involving willing (and unwilling) participants to create their own keepsakes. Her spirit was inspirational and lives on through her crafty creations.

De’Lene & Dennis also made many great memories with the hobbies they enjoyed together, including spending time with family & friends, home renovation, attending OSU football games, boating, gardening, hanging out with their dogs, and traveling.

De’Lene was very excited to become a grandmother, attending as many of her daughter-in-law Jenna’s OB visits as her health would allow. De’Lene’s memory will live on with her granddaughter Millicent Lynn, and we are very thankful that they got to meet and spend time with each other.

De’Lene will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving wife, mother (-in-law), daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Aleda Toma MD, along with the nurses and infusion staff at SSM Health Cancer Care. They have grown to be a part of our family over the years as they provided care, support, and fought tirelessly alongside De’Lene on her treatment journey.
