Dolores Ann Orr

Dolores "Dodie" Orr entered eternal rest May 4th in her home of 60 years. She was born April 14, 1936 in Kansas City, MO to John Joseph and Mary Agnes Gleason. The family moved to OKC shortly thereafter where Dodie attended John Carroll Catholic School, Bishop McGuiness and graduated from Central High School. She ignored her mother's request to attend nursing school and on February 18, 1955 she married the love of her life, Billy 'Jack' Orr. To this union were born five children, Theresa Rogers, Nannette Taylor, Brian, Greg & Joseph. In 1985 she graduated from Rose State with her BSN and worked in several areas of Deaconess Hospital retiring in 2001. She then spent a few years working for Cancer Care as an oncology nurse. Dolores led an active life traveling with her NAON group and taking many trips with her children and made a trip with grandchildren to World Youth Day in Europe. She never missed a televised OU football game and she greatly enjoyed time with friends & family at Lake Eufaula and rode her SeaDoo until very recently. She was a devoted Catholic and was a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Church since 1969. All who knew our Mother saw Christ's light shining through her and her memory will forever remain in our hearts. In the last two years she fiercely braved cancer and throughout this journey she never lost faith, hope or her love for life. Dolores was preceded in death by Jack, her sisters Reece Atchley and Joan Cowden and brothers Tom, Mike & Patrick Gleason. She is survived by her 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. We would like to thank special friends Lisa Hayes, Bernie & Claudia Kraus and our Rock, Nurse Nannette for their loving attention to our mom, as she was our everything. Memorials may be made to Rosary Catholic School.A Prayer Vigil will be held Sunday May 8th at 5pm at Smith & Kernke 1401 NW 23rd Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday, May 9th at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1901 NW 18th.
