Dolores Duffy Martin

Dolores K. (Duffy) Martin, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Montereau Retirement Community in Tulsa, OK. She was born December 20, 1930, in Malone, NY, the daughter of Kathleen (Murphy, Duffy) O'Leary and Edward Duffy. When she was three years old, her father passed away. She was raised in Malone, NY by her mother and stepfather, Dr. Francis O’Leary. She graduated from St. Joseph Ursuline Academy and subsequently earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY and her master’s degree from Central State University in Edmond, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, her husband of 58 years, Bernardine (Bernie) J. Martin, children B. Lynn Martin and Michael Bernardine (Bernie) Martin, brothers, Joseph Duffy, James O’Leary, Dr. Timothy J. O’Leary, John (Harrington) O’Leary, and Daniel O'Leary, and sister Francis (O’Leary) Angelino. She is survived by children Janet Martin (Oklahoma City), Caroline Quinn (husband Brent, Tulsa, OK), and Scott Martin (Houston, TX) as well as her daughter-in-law, Dianna Barrett (Denver, CO); two grandsons, Braden and Kyle Quinn (Tulsa, OK); sister Kathleen Lahue (Canandaigua, NY), and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores came to Oklahoma City from Syracuse, NY in 1963 when her husband was transferred by the General Electric Company, moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1965 and returned to Oklahoma City in 1969. She worked throughout her professional career as an educator teaching English, Journalism, and Photography, in addition to leading newspaper and yearbook productions. She taught at Copenhagen Central School in Copenhagen, NY; John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, OK; and retired from Edmond Memorial High School in Edmond, OK in 1996. Her tireless volunteer efforts are too numerous to list. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City, OK. The family wishes to thank Montereau and the many caregivers for the kindness and care given to Dolores.
