Donald Leslie Bolen

Donald Leslie Bolen died Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was born to Thelma Meadors and Ralph Leslie Bolen in Oklahoma City on April 14, 1944. He attended Edgemere Elementary School, Casady School, and graduated from Harding High School. He continued his education at The University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and the Air National Guard. He then joined the family car business Bolen Oldsmobile. He was a former member of the Mayors' Advisory Council, Men's Dinner Club and former president of Young Men's Dinner Club. He was also on the board of Fairlawn Cemetery, and a member of Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, and All Souls' Episcopal Church. Don's love of life and his fellow man is evident in the many friends he left behind. We will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents Thelma and Ralph Bolen, and his brother Frank Bolen. Don is survived by his wife Fanny with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Also, by his daughter Katherine "Bebe" MacKellar and her husband Bruce; son Nelson Leslie Bolen and his wife Rachel; three loving grandsons, Bolen MacKellar, George Bolen, and Ralph Bolen all of Oklahoma City, OK. Sister and brother in law Lynda and Chuck Nelson, and sister in law Barbara Bolen; nephews Charles Nelson and wife Candace, Bobby Nelson and wife Libby; nieces Pamela Davis and Leslie Evans. The family wishes to thank all of the great doctors, nurses and staff at Integris Baptist Medical Center Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute. We especially want to thank all of the team members of 701 ICU, they were his guardian angels and helped him through this final struggle. Words cannot express the appreciation and gratitude to the anonymous organ donor and their family whose selfless final act gave Don over 4 years of great life that he would not have otherwise had. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 10:00am-5:00pm and Sunday, March 31 from 12:00pm-5:00pm. The Order for the Burial of the Dead will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2:00 at All Souls' Episcopal Church. Memorials may be made to All Souls' Episcopal Church, Casady School, or the charity of your choice.
