Elizabeth Kelsey (Holmes) Frizzell was born on July 17th, 1960 in Oklahoma City, OK to Joseph Robert and Elizabeth (Crim) Holmes. She passed away at home on June 10th, 2025 in Luther, OK of natural causes.
Elizabeth -- or Kelsey as she went by with friends and family -- grew up in Oklahoma City with a childhood filled with family gatherings and trips. She was especially close to her brother, Palmer, whom she looked up to a great deal. Although initially attending Casady then Northeast High School, she had a strong desire to go to ‘Hippie High’. After forging her mom’s signature on her transfer papers, she was able to attend and graduate from Central Innovative High School in 1977. After briefly attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Kelsey continued blazing her own trail by moving to Cozumel. While in Mexico, Kelsey further developed her life-long love of traveling, sense of adventure and learned how to scuba dive.
After moving back to Oklahoma City in her mid 20s, Kelsey met William Denning ‘Denny’ Frizzell while working at Sipango Lounge. They were married on Kelsey’s birthday, July 17th, 1989 at Lake Tenkiller. She valued genuineness and this was reflected in their intimate wedding that only close friends and family attended. Together, they shared a vive for life that led them on many adventures like spectating at races, riding motorcycles, enjoying nature, rescuing animals, fixing up their first home, and eventually the birth of their daughter.
Their daughter Hannah Elizabeth Holmes Frizzell was born July 8, 1996. From that moment on, Kelsey dedicated herself to her daughter. She made sure that Hannah was an active participant in sports, music, and art. She spent many evenings and weekends at practices, games, recitals, and meets. Through both wins and some losses, she was always Hannah’s biggest cheerleader. Kelsey’s love for travel, animals, shooting pool, art, music, and nature was shared with her daughter. Many trips were taken together across the country and world to enjoy such endeavors.
Kelsey, Denny and Hannah made many great memories with the hobbies they enjoyed together, including spending time with family & friends, road tripping across the country, going to sporting and racing events, eating new food, visiting museums, exploring new places, and going to art and music festivals. Even with time spent doing so many amazing things, the most important part was undeniably the time spent together.
Kelsey spent her entire ‘rad tech’ career working in cardiac cath labs, both at Southwest Medical Center and Baptist Hospital in OKC. She was able to build strong friendships with many coworkers throughout her career and kept in touch with many of them. She found her vocation very fulfilling and was always eager to learn about the advancements in technology and practices. After 25 years of medical service, she retired in 2019.
Kelsey and Denny spent their retirement years together enjoying their dream home and acreage in Luther, travelling to New Mexico to visit Hannah, and hanging out with friends and family. Kelsey will always be remembered in our hearts as a generous and loving wife, mother, aunt, great aunt, friend, and animal lover. She will be greatly missed!
