Evelyn Lucille Everett, 87, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on December 30, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She has reunited with the love of her life, John Norman Everett, who preceded her in death on January 18, 2022. Lucille was born on October 29, 1935, in Newton, Mississippi to Joseph Franklin and Lida May Williams. She attended Newton High School and Clarke Memorial College in Newton, Mississippi. In 1954, Lucille married John Everett. They lived most of their life in Clinton, Mississippi where they raised their son, Johnny. Lucille's passion was watching Johnny participate in his sporting events. She and John never missed a football game that he played in. She was very involved in fundraising for Clinton High School athletics. She was a lover of all sports, and one could never enter her home without some sports event playing. Lucille was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, where she taught kindergarten for 21 years. She loved sewing, reading, and playing bridge.Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her sister, Frances Williams Thomas; her brothers, Carmen Williams, Harold Williams, and Tommy Williams. She is survived by her son, John Norman Everett, Jr. (Martie); grandchildren, Steven Everett (Kinsey) and Lindsay Strickland (Cole); great grandchildren, Max Maris, and Miles Everett, and Everett, Annie, and Corbin Strickland, all of Edmond, Oklahoma; as well as many nieces and nephews. To all who knew her, Lucille will be remembered as a lovely woman who always took an interest in others and put them before herself. She was always a great listener. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to her caretaker and friend, Maria Silva, and to Crossroads Hospice.Visitation will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral North May in Oklahoma City at 10:00a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023. A service will follow at 11:00am in the chapel. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma. In lieu of flower, memorial donations can be made to New City Church, 10 N. Broadway, Suite 18, Edmond, OK 73034 (newcitychurch.org).
