Farley Dale Kelly passed away at the Oklahoma Veterans Home in Norman on April 14, 2025. He was born February 2, 1933, in Wanette, OK, the son of Clarence and Jenni Kelly.
Dale was drafted into the US Army in 1953 and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving an honorable discharge in 1955, he returned to Oklahoma and married Loreta “Reta” Kindrick. They made their first home in Shawnee before moving to Oklahoma City to be closer to his work at Tinker Air Force Base. Dale worked in logistics at Tinker, but his heart was always in farming. After retiring in 1979, Dale and Reta fulfilled a dream and moved to their farm in Lexington.
Dale was a very hard worker and enjoyed farming. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was a master dominoes player. He loved tinkering with cars and thoroughly enjoyed the art of the deal of buying and selling cars. One daughter said, she never knew what they would be driving. Dale was an avid and efficient garage sale hound. He would rise early Saturday, with his map drawn out so not to back track, and hit as many garage sales as possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his four children: Nelda Kelley and husband David, Roger Kelly, Gail DeNegri and husband Tony, and Dorinda Kelly; eight grandchildren: Jessica, Jacob, Rebecca, Renea, Jennifer, Justin, Patrick and Tony Jr.; and numerous great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Norman Veterans Center for their exceptional care and compassion, which brought comfort to Farley and his loved ones during this difficult time.
The funeral will be held at 2pm Friday, April 18 at Wanette Cemetery in Wanette, OK.
