Gary Lynn Brown

Gary Lynn Brown, born on August 13, 1945, in sunny San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, in Oklahoma City at the age of 79. After a life well lived, he is now at peace beside his beloved wife of 49 years, Bobbie E. Brown.

Gary was the son of J.R. and Betty Brown and was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, his wife Bobbie, and his brother-in-law Keith A. Trout. He is survived by his children, Tori Blake and Todd Brown and wife Hunter; his grandchildren Madison, Joshua, Noah, Jayden, Cole, Ella, and Jack; and his great-grandchildren Liam, Isabelle, and Ruby. He also leaves behind his brother Dennis and wife Deann; his sister Tammy and husband Bob; his nephew Keith A. Trout, Jr.; and many extended family members and close friends.

Gary and Bobbie’s love story began just one house apart. They grew up together, attended the same schools, and married on February 3, 1968, while Gary was on military leave, proudly wearing his dress blues. After their wedding, they remained in Oklahoma City for a short time before moving together to Okinawa, where Gary was stationed and completed his military career.

A proud veteran and a hardworking man, Gary spent most of his career as a Plumbing & Mechanical Contractor with Alliance Plumbing & Heating, later working alongside his son at GT Mechanical until his retirement in 2015. Known affectionately as “Brownie,” Gary was generous with his time and resources. He never missed a game, loved to grill for his family, and was always ready with his signature offer: “I’ll buy if you fly.”

Gary’s passion for golf was legendary—whether on the course or watching tournaments on TV. His quirky sense of humor, love for card games, and devotion to family made every gathering memorable. Family vacations were often filled with laughter, mishaps, and stories that rivaled any comedy.

Though not one to frequent church pews, Gary embraced his Christian beliefs in his own way—with a heart full of love and a spirit that never quit. He adored his family fiercely, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and held a special place in his heart for his siblings.

A graveside service to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.

In closing, Gary lived by the belief that yesterday’s mistakes shaped the man he became. He embraced his faults, learned from them, and loved deeply. His legacy is one of laughter, loyalty, and love—a life well-lived, and a man well-loved.

Taking the chips you were given, you shoved all in, Dad, and we all won. You will be missed, but not forgotten.
