George Rizek went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born January 9, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He graduated from Wilkes-Barre High School and attended some classes at Niagara University. He served in the US Air Force and, after receiving an honorable discharge, joined a group of his friends and came to Oklahoma on vacation. He and a few friends decided to stay here, and he lived at the YMCA. He attended a dance with ladies from the YWCA and met the love of his life, Mildred Richardson. They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to her death in 2021.
George worked for the US Post Office but also held several jobs on the side, including being a photographer at a night club, selling real estate, and owning a Dairy Boy. He retired from the Post Office on January 3, 1985, after 34 years of service.
George was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed traveling through the US and Europe. George and Mildred enjoyed going to casinos and playing slots and slot tournaments.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Julia (Krunfley) Rizek; brothers George Rizek and Joseph Rizek; sisters Mary (Rizek) Shiber, Alice (Rizek) Simon, and Eleanor (Rizek) Obeid, and daughter Audora Lee (Rizek) Milani. He is survived by his son Granville M. Rizek and daughter Julia (Rizek) Cook both of Edmond; 4 grandchildren: Christy Milani of Grand Prairie, TX, Amber (Cook) Metz and husband Keith of Gilbert, AZ, Bryan Cook and wife Tanja of Polegate, UK, and Jennifer Milani and husband David of Dallas, TX; and three great grandchildren: Charlie Dennis Metz and Ripley Mackenzie Metz of Gilbert, AZ and Benjamin Dale Cook of Polegate, UK.
Viewing will be from 10am – 6pm Friday, January 30, 2026, at Smith & Kernke on N. May with the family present from 4pm – 6pm. The funeral service will be at 10am Saturday, January 31 at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
