Glen Richard “Dick” Hunt, 81, passed away July 26, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born November 10, 1943, in Altus, OK, the son of Charles G. and Anna Lee Parrish Hunt. Dick spent his youth as a cowboy, living and working on large ranches in Oklahoma, Kansas and Wyoming, that were managed by his father. He finished high school in Amber, Oklahoma, where his parents settled down after the ranching life. In 1962, he joined the US Air Force where he worked as a radio operator and code specialist in Taiwan. Upon his return stateside, Dick finished out his service at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1966. That spring, his brother Jim set him up on a blind date with a young nurse at OU Medical Center…he knew he had met the love of his life. Six weeks later Dick and Julia were engaged to be married. And the rest is history. They married and settled in Oklahoma City, Dick went to college at Central State, now UCO, on the GI Bill. He earned a degree in accounting and began his career in the oil and gas industry. Dick explored a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors throughout the years. He enjoyed the challenge of problem solving. Later in life he continued working as a financial consultant.
Dick’s recreational passions were golf, hunting and all Oklahoma State sports. He often said that his idea of the prefect day was a great game of golf, an Oklahoma State win and “a good roll in the hay”. He loved the competition with good friends and the beauty of golf courses. Dick had a natural knack for numbers which made him very good at playing cards. He enjoyed his Gin Rummy and Poker groups throughout life. Dick and Julia enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially ski trips to Colorado. Over the last 20 years, they particularly loved visiting the coast of Maine to spend time with Anna and David.
His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Julia Ann Meyer Hunt; daughter Anna Rebecca Hunt and partner David Chadwick of Bath, Maine; brothers, Jim Hunt and wife Cathy; John Hunt and wife Laura; sister-in-law, Clara Winters; brother-in-law, Steve Meyer. He was Uncle Dick to many beloved nieces and nephews; on the Hunt side: Corey, Jonas, Chelsea, Lauren Nicole, Abbie, and Tessa, and on the Meyer side: Mack, Sarah, Anne Catherine, Katie, and Steven. And many wonderful great-nieces and great-nephews. To our sweetpea, dad, brother and Uncle Dick – We will miss you dearly. Thank you for all the love, laughs, generosity and unwavering faith in all of us. We love you.
