Gregg Randall Renegar

Gregg Randall Renegar passed peacefully from this life and transitioned to his heavenly life on June 18, 2025, surrounded by his wife and close friends.

Gregg was born on January 1, 1949 in Oklahoma City to Doris and Owen Renegar. He grew up in The Village and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1967. After high school, Gregg attended Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1971 and then attended Oklahoma City University School of Law, graduating with high honors in 1975.

Gregg met the love of his life, Joan Bissonnette, in 1973 and they were married on August 17, 1974. In 1981, Gregg and Joan had their first son, Eric, with their second son, Blake, being born in 1984. Gregg was very proud of his sons and instilled a tremendous work ethic in both of them. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Reese and Rowen Renegar, and his daughter-in-law, Audrey Renegar (nee Benson) and often bragged about their many accomplishments to his friends. Gregg and Joan celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 17, 2024.

Jokingly referring to himself as a recovering attorney, Gregg had a successful career as an attorney, working in the areas of real estate, oil and gas, condemnations, and class actions. He began his career as an attorney for Oklahoma City Urban Renewal but ultimately was a partner in the firm of Kornfeld, Franklin, Renegar and Randall where he practiced until he retired in 2023. He was extremely proud that Joan joined him in the practice of law in 1998 and that they practiced law together for over 20 years.

Gregg and Joan had many adventures throughout their marriage which included trips to California, Colorado, Canada, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Panama, England, Scotland, France, Greece and Italy. But Gregg’s favorite adventures were those that they had on their catamaran in the British Virgin Islands with family and friends.

Gregg had a lifelong love of real estate, believing it to be one of the best investments that a person could make. In addition to their home in Oklahoma City, Gregg and Joan had a home in Naples, Florida where they entertained friends and family and later bought a home in La Quinta, California. All of their homes had great patios with beautiful views where Gregg spent many mornings drinking coffee and many evenings smoking cigars and enjoying his favorite scotch.

The consummate car guy, Gregg collected hundreds of cars over the years including a 1932 Seagraves fire engine, several street rods and muscle cars, Bentleys, Rolls Royces, an Aston Martin and his dream car, a Ferrari. Much to Joan’s chagrin, Gregg always said that his ideal home would have 10 garages.

The Renegar family wish to thank their many friends from Oklahoma, Florida, and California who have been so supportive during this very difficult time. Special thanks to Dr. Brian Geister, Dr. David Lam, Laura Lynn’s Home Care and Integris Hospice Home and their amazing staffs. Charitable donations can be made to The Salvation Army, the American Cancer Society or the charity of their choice. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Much like George Bailey in one of Gregg’s favorite movies, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Gregg Renegar truly had a wonderful life.
