Gregory Wayne Johnston

Gregory Wayne Johnston, 69, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Oklahoma City. Greg was born on September 14, 1954, to Kenneth and Aline Johnston in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Greg earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas Arlington. He went on to medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He started his medical career as an ER Physician and later became an anesthesiologist where he practiced at Mercy Hospital and Orthopedic Associates. Anyone who knew Greg knew the wonderful reputation he had as a physician. Greg epitomized the philosophy “treat the patient not the disease”. Greg was a member of the OK City Gun Club and the National Sporting Clays Association both memberships aided him with his passion for duck hunting. Greg was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Johnston. He is survived by his mother Aline; loving wife Mary Joan; children Christopher Johnston his partner Kim Maple and her son Alex, daughter Catherine Worthy her husband Matt; grandchildren Sawyer, Hazel and Bennett; brothers Douglas Johnston his wife Debbie, Steve Johnston, Scott Johnston his wife Madonna; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Bryant; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Even more than practicing medicine or hunting ducks, Greg loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
