James Travis Hill, Jr.

James Travis Hill, Jr., 78, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. James was born on September 10, 1947 in Oklahoma City to James Travis Hill, Sr. and Norma Lee (Hightower) Hill. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1965, where he played football. In 1967, James served in the US Army Reserves. In 1970, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. After graduation, James followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Fielder Clair Hill and his father in the family business of manufacturing Midwest dry cleaning machinery at Hill Equipment Company, one of the last US based manufacturers of such machinery. He married his wife of 52 years, Rose Marie (Hoegger) Hill, on December 22, 1973 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. James was a devout Catholic and shared his faith with others as a catechism teacher. He had a kind and generous heart, always ready to help anyone in need. His hobbies included football, soccer, rugby, pianist, pilot, writer, inventor, genealogist, and Civil War history enthusiast.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, grandsons Ryan Hamil and Cole Hamil. He is survived by his wife, daughter Christine Woolston of Edmond; daughter Catherine Hamil, husband Hank of Cashion; daughter Jennifer Hill of Mustang; son James Hill III, wife Angela of Oklahoma City; sister Jane Spears, husband Ken of St. Louis, Mo. James is also survived by grandchildren Sophia Hill (Owen Maxwell), Mary Woolston, Cathleen Hamil, Jeffrey Woolston, Theresa Woolston, Emily Woolston, Hannah Hamil, Matthew Hamil, William Hill, Michael Woolston, Nathan Hamil, Julie Woolston; great-grandsons Jamison Maxwell and Theodore Maxwell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 Viewing, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2049, Smith and Kernke 14624 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73134, Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Requiem Mass, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2049, St. Damien Catholic Church, 8455 NW 234th St., Edmond, OK 73025, Edmond, Oklahoma. Burial to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, 8455 NW 234th St., Edmond, OK 73025.
