Janie Wall

Melva Jane Wall "Janie", 81, passed away on March 2, 2022, in Oklahoma City. She was born on April 27, 1940, in Mangum, Ok. Janie moved to Oklahoma City with her family as a child and graduated from NW Classen High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from OU in 1962. She married the love of her life Jack Wall in 1963, that's when her life really took off. As a young couple they moved 8 times in their first nine years of marriage. They did their best to take advantage of what each new location had to offer, taking in Broadway plays, Detroit Lions, Notre Dame Football games, Niagara Falls, and many other travel adventures. Above all Janie loved Jesus. She showed her love for Jesus in all she did, whether it was teaching 1st grade, Vacation Bible School, Cub Scout Leader, Brownie Leader, singing in the one of many church choirs, or working with the Whiz Kid program, Janie always brought and shared her enthusiasm, energy, and love of Jesus. Janie was the neighborhood "Kool Aide" mom, she was always ready with something cool to drink, a quick sandwich, or the occasional band aide for not only Jim and Julie but any kid in the neighborhood. Janie formed many friendships in her life, many became lifelong that lasted over the decades. It was the richness of these relationships that made a Janie Christmas or Valentine's Day party a not to be missed occasion. Friends and family will never forget Janie's love of family gatherings, from family picnics with extended family, to Easter Egg Hunts in the back yard, and most recently her Family "Bashes" at Ted's Café. Janie's always loved a good party. Janie was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Wall; her mom and stepdad Orville and Faye Leonhart, her father Gurney Paul McIntosh; and brother Glenn Leonhart. She is survived by her loving husband Jack; son Jim; and her brother Don Leonhart. Memorial gifts may be sent to Whiz Kids or Young Life. Visitation will be Friday March 4, 2022, from 10 AM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday March 5, 2022, at Bridgeway Church 228 W. Hefner Road followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
