Jason Douglas Kougl

Jason Douglas Kougl, 52, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter and memories that will forever be cherished.

Jason is survived by his loving son Ky Douglas Kougl; brother Justin (Erica) Kougl, and Justin’s children Connor and Drew; parents Doug and Jill Kougl; Ky’s mom, Lainey Horton, and her husband Mike Horton; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Jason spent many years in sales and executive positions in the telecommunications industry. In recent years, he found a new path through sobriety and his love of Jesus Christ, which led him to work in the addiction recovery field. Jason loved this work because, more than anything, he loved people. He never met a stranger. With his beautiful smile, blue eyes and contagious laugh, he had a way of making people feel welcome. He was always the first to ask, “How can I help?” and never hesitated to end a conversation with, “I love you.”

Above all, Jason was a devoted father and family man. He loved watching Ky play basketball and was always his biggest coach, supporter and fan. He enjoyed golf, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, fantasy football and, and especially time at the beach - where he found peace in the sand, the waves and the beauty of the ocean.

Jason will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, his faith, his love for his family and his ability to make people feel loved.

As we celebrate Jason’s life, may his memory be a blessing to all who loved him. May we carry his love and his laughter with us. May we live each day fully, love deeply, help others whenever we can, and never hesitate to tell the people we love just how much they mean to us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 26th at 2:00 pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. The address is 14624 North May Avenue Oklahoma City, OK 73134.

In lieu, of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Jason’s memory to “Jesus House”. This organization helps individuals overcome substance use disorder, homelessness, and poverty through faith-based recovery to rebuild their lives.
