Jean Connie Murphy, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, partner, sister, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 82.
Jean was born on June 7, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York to Louie Bruno Sr. and Connie Bruno. She carried with her throughout life the strength, resilience, and warmth that defined her early roots.
In 1970, Jean moved to Oklahoma, where she established her home and built a life centered on family, faith, and service to others. She was a devoted woman of faith who loved God and His teachings, striving always to live with service above self. One of her most cherished prayers was the Serenity Prayer, whose message reflected the grace and perspective she carried each day.
Jean had a special gift for bringing people together. She fostered a ministry of community among friends and family, offering encouragement, kindness, wisdom, and a welcoming spirit to all who knew her. Her home and heart were always open.
For over 25 years, Jean served as a teacher, dedicating herself to the education and care of countless children. She loved the students whose lives she touched and found deep joy in helping young people learn and grow.
In her later years, Jean especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, William, Wesley, and Conner. They were a constant source of joy and pride, and she treasured every moment with them. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply being present, Jean’s love for her grandchildren was deep and unwavering, and they will carry her warmth and wisdom with them always.
Jean is survived by her loving partner, Earle Haggard; her brother, Louis Bruno; and her former spouse, Bill Murphy Sr. She is also survived by her sons, Bill Murphy and his wife Stephanie, and Michael Murphy and his wife Kristen; and by her cherished grandchildren, William, Wesley, and Connor.
Jean’s legacy is one of faith, compassion, service, and love. She was a part of numerous organizations and leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who cherished her, and generations of students who were better because of her care and guidance.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen Foundation to support cancer research and patient care in Jean’s memory.
