Jennifer Kaneshiro

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer Kaneshiro, a loving wife, committed mother, loyal sister, aunt, and friend, as well as a devoted servant of God. Jennifer peacefully departed this world on April 16, 2025, at the age of 53, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Seoul, Korea on July 6, 1971, to her father Kenneth Kaneshiro and mother Hwa Kaneshiro, Jennifer’s early years were shaped by the travels of a military family. Living in various locations around the world, she eventually settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where she attended high school and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas.

Jennifer’s life was one of service, joy, and genuine connection. Professionally, she rose to prominence in the corporate world, serving as Vice President of HR with Haggar Clothing Company before moving to Ada, Oklahoma, and later Edmond, Oklahoma. She spent over 19 years working with the Chickasaw Nation and Global Gaming Solutions as the Undersecretary of Interior Services and Corporate Director of HR, respectively. Throughout her career, Jennifer was deeply committed to mentoring others, offering guidance, support, and friendship to all those she encountered. She was known for her fierce loyalty and work ethic, but it was her warm heart and ability to inspire those around her that made her truly unforgettable.

As a friend, Jennifer was a safe haven—a steady, nonjudgmental listener who provided comfort and advice. Her attention to detail made every event, whether a birthday, graduation, or family barbecue, feel special and personal. She had a gift for creating memories, and her infectious laugh will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.

At home, Jennifer was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Matthew Spencer, whom she married in 2007 after meeting him on Valentine’s Day in 2000. The bond they shared was one of deep love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they adopted two sons, Makaio and Kainoa Spencer, from South Korea in 2012 and 2013. Jennifer’s love for her boys was immeasurable, and they were her pride and joy. As a “Nommy,” she set a high standard for nurturing and care, and her boys would undoubtedly tell you she was perfect in their eyes.

Jennifer was deeply proud of her Korean and Hawaiian heritage. Some of her fondest memories include traveling to Korea with her mother, fulfilling a dream she had held for years, and reconnecting with her family in Kauai during annual reunions. Hawaii held a special place in her heart, and it was a sanctuary where she felt most at peace and surrounded by love.

Above all, Jennifer was a woman of faith. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, she drew strength from her relationship with the Lord, particularly during her 18-month battle with cancer. She was always rooted in Scripture, finding comfort in praise music and podcasts that uplifted her spirit. Her faith was a guiding light for her family, and because of her unwavering belief, we know she is now healed, whole, and at peace in heaven.

Jennifer is survived by her husband of 18 years, Matthew Spencer; sons Makaio and Kainoa Spencer; her mother Hwa Yong Kaneshiro of Frisco, TX; sister Anngie Stevens and her husband John Stevens of Frisco, TX; brothers Philip Kaneshiro and Daniel Kaneshiro of Hinesville, GA; nieces Vivian Stevens, Claire Stevens, and Adalynn Siems; and nephew Aidan Walter. She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Kaneshiro.

A celebration of Jennifer's life will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Coles Garden in Oklahoma City. In honor of Jennifer’s legacy, we invite all who knew and loved her to come and share in the joy of her life and the memories she leaves behind.

Jennifer’s love, faith, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a light in this world, and her absence will be deeply felt by all. Yet, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, surrounded by the love of God
