Graduated from University of Oklahoma with BS degree in Botany
Spent 3 years in US Army, one year in Vietnam as an Army medic
Married Marilyn Rodesney in 1969
Worked at Oklahoma State Health Department for 39 years inspecting and regulating nursing homes and hospitals, retiring in 2013
Together they traveled all 50 states and several international locations in pursuit of their hobbies of birding, photography and astronomy
Jerry was also an avid plastic modeler, building historically accurate models of airplanes, ships, tanks and cars, among other items
Member of Oklahoma City Audubon Society, Oklahoma City Astronomy Club, Oklahoma Historical Modelers Society, Metro Camera Club, and serving as Region 6 Coordinator for International Plastic Modelers Society for 9 years
Pets included a number of long haired dachshunds over the years, current pet Dixie
Died May 12, 2025 in Oklahoma City
Preceded in death by both parents and sister Donna, survived by wife Marilyn, nephew Tom Thompson and wife Jodi of Azle, Texas, niece Stacy Herron and husband Eddie of Shawnee, nephew Randy Keyes and wife Hannah of Shawnee and aunt Sue Stone of Lutz, Florida, and brothers & sisters in law Steven & Janet Rodesney, Jeanette & David Sanford, Richard & Christine Rodesney, Paul & Suzen Rodesney, Bruce Rodesney and Dolly & Dave Schwartz, along with a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces and grand nephews
