Joe Berius Davis, Jr. was born in Houston, TX, August 30, 1940, to Joe and Forrest Davis. A few years later they moved to Farmington, MN, then to Kansas City where they welcomed his baby brother, Jerry. After Jr. High, they settled in Oklahoma City, where they reunited with their huge family and had many frequent and fun gatherings with all 17 cousins. Joe graduated from NW Classen then went on to attend OCU and OU where he joined Lambda Chi fraternity and made lifetime friends.
Joe was a stockbroker in OKC for many years working initially for Auchenclaus Kohlmeyer and later for Dean Witter. He ultimately moved to the Dallas area and worked with Merrill Lynch in their premier location at Los Colinas. One of his fond memories is of a trip that Merrill sent him on to Princeton where friends introduced him to Kathryn, widow of Cornelius Ryan, famous writer of WW2 books. He spent a day with her in her home and was able to view and visit about much of their memorabilia. Joe was a big history buff and especially interested in WW2 so this was an extraordinary treat which he fondly remembered. After retiring from stocks, he returned to the furniture industry as a manufacturers rep. During this time, he reunited with his high school friend, Pat (Railey) and they were happily married for 30 years, eventually returning “home" to Oklahoma City.
Joe loved golfing, hunting, fly fishing, visiting Colorado, watching old movies and attending OU football games. He and Pat looked forward to their annual trips with his cousins to Lake City; it was a great time for fishing, exploring and reminiscing about old family times.
He entered heaven's gates early Friday morning. He had been ill, and it was a blessing that God took him as he slept peacefully at home after just returning from the hospital. Joe is survived by his wife Pat; son Joel (Brandi) and grandson Everitt; daughter Elizabeth; brother, Jerry (Gayl), along with nieces Mary and Katie, nephew Ben and all their delightful children. It is wonderful to think that now Joe was met by his friends who left us earlier and whom he has sorely missed. We know that George, Jon, Jim, Doug and others are welcoming him to his new home.
A graveside service will be at Rose Hill Burial Park on Thursday May 15, at 1pm.
May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm sun shine on your face
And until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hands
