John Heinen

John Michael Heinen was born in Oklahoma City on May 24, 1991, and he entered into eternal life with the Lord on June 18, 2026.

John is the second of four children to Dan and Carol Heinen.

As a boy, John enjoyed playing all sports with his siblings and his friends. John loved summer trips with his family to Lake Tenkiller, where he spent countless hours riding on the boat and the inner tube.

John was a third generation graduate of Bishop John Carroll School, where he was an altar server and he played on the school’s basketball team.

John then attended Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, where he thrived. John won four state championships, playing for the Irish football and basketball teams. John also made countless friends that he would keep for the rest of his life, including his future wife, Emma.

John then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. John lived his college years to the fullest, earning the nickname “The Mayor” among his friends because of his friendly and outgoing personality. John participated in so many fraternity and campus events, but his favorite were the OU football game days.

John graduated from OU with a degree in energy management. He worked for Williams Energy and then most recently CBRE, where he became a Certified General Appraiser and was promoted to the role of Vice President.

John and Emma married in 2018, during a beautiful ceremony at All Souls' Church in Oklahoma City.

John and Emma later moved to the Quail Creek neighborhood, where they became central fixtures of their beautiful street.

John and Emma welcomed their son, Peter, in 2020, and then two daughters, Kit in 2022, and Sally in 2025. He loved his family so much and they loved him.

John and his family are members and students of Christ the King Catholic Church and School. John served as the coach for all of Peter’s sports teams, and he was so proud of his boys.

John also volunteered his time as a member of the “chain gang” and as a coach for the Bishop McGuinness Junior High football program, coordinating practices and games for countless young men.

Although words cannot express how deeply we will miss him, we will always think of John during football games in the fall and our Lake Tenkiller sunsets.

John is survived by his wife of eight years, Emma, and his three adoring children: Peter, Kit, and Sally. He is also survived by his parents, Dan and Carol Heinen, his grandmother, Patricia Kearney, his three siblings and their spouses, Sam and Connie Heinen, Katie and Chase Hadley, and Drew and Kate Heinen, one niece, Jane Heinen, his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Salle Trimble, his sister-in-law, Mary Frances Pluscht and husband Webster, his brother-in-law, David Trimble, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

John is also survived by an amazing group of lifelong friends, who he loved and appreciated so much, and with whom he shared many memorable experiences.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Marie Heinen, grandfather, Sam Kearney, and his aunt, Charlene Heinen Kern.

John’s family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that we have received during this difficult time.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on June 24, 2026, at 10:00 AM, with a reception to follow at the adjacent Connor Center.
