Kathy Bronze, a woman whose life was marked by kindness, grace, and an unwavering dedication to family and friends, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City. Born on March 1, 1956, in Ridgeland, Mississippi, Kathy’s journey was one of heartfelt devotion and inspiring accomplishment.
Kathy’s academic pursuits led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in science from the University of Mississippi for Women, where she excelled as a member of the Lancer’s Society. She completed her professional training as a medical technologist, embarking on a career marked by respect and excellence. Beginning in a hematology laboratory, it was there that she met her beloved husband, Michael Bronze. Her passion for science and dedication to her work earned her recruitment to a research laboratory at the UT Medical Health Sciences Center. After the birth of her son Andrew, Kathy took a hiatus before embarking on a new and deeply fulfilling chapter in real estate. Certified as a realtor, she found immense joy helping first-time homebuyers secure their dream homes. Known for her generosity, Kathy often went beyond expectations—helping clients with expenses out of her own pocket, making the journey to homeownership possible for many.
Kathy’s life was an exquisite tapestry of love, laughter, and memorable moments. She treasured ballroom dancing, a pursuit that highlighted her elegance and the radiant grace she carried in every facet of life. Family and friends alike were captivated by her infectious laugh and ever-present smile. Her warm, welcoming personality made her a cherished friend to many, always ready with a kind word or helping hand during difficult times. She was an avid reader often reading two or more books a day. She loved to entertain and was well known for her love of baking, especially cheesecakes which she shared with many. Yet, more than any accomplishment or hobby, it was Kathy’s love for her family and her close-knit circle of friends that was the cornerstone of her life. Her most important accomplishment was raising her son, Andrew who she loved dearly. She was an amazing wife and mother and created a house full of love and joy.
Kathy fought a courageous and graceful battle with frontotemporal lobe dementia. Throughout her illness, she was lovingly cared for at home by her family, maintaining the gentle countenance and radiant smile that were so deeply a part of her spirit. The family is indebted to First Call Home Health for all of their assistance in her care and the skilled and compassionate physicians and nurses who provided her care. The family also recognizes family members, close friends and work colleagues, her dance family, and others who continuously provided support and encouragement to her and her family.
She leaves behind her devoted husband, Michael Bronze; her loving son, Andrew Bronze; her brother Alan James and sister-in-law Amy James; her sister Marilyn Durgin; and brothers-in-law Jeffrey Bronze and Terry Bronze and sister-in-law Charlotte Bronze. Kathy is also survived by many cherished friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity. She joins in eternal rest her parents George T. James and Edith Logan James, and her sister Susan Spano.
Kathy Bronze’s life was a testament to grace, dedication, and love. Through every chapter—from her scientific endeavors to her heartfelt work as a realtor, from the ballroom dance floor to the kitchen where she baked with love—she left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire, her smile forever remembered, and her kindness carried forward in the hearts of her family and friends.
