LaVerne Elizabeth Houston

Laverne Elizabeth Washington (Houston) was born on January 11, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Clarence Rudy Washington and Betty Elizabeth Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Kenneth Washington and Eddie Washington, and 6 sisters; Betty Mae Washington, Donna Curlee, Iris Washington, Linda Faye Washington, Phylis Washinghton, Gloria Washington.

Laverne received her education in Oklahoma City from Douglas High School and was a track star where she met Maurice Manuel Cooper (Sr.) and gave birth to her only child Raquel Lizzet Cooper (Rowe).

Laverne received the Lord as a child and attended Cannon Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, then to Holy Temple Baptist Church until being introduced to Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served as an Usher and then as Deaconess until she took ill.

Laverne Leaves to cherish her memory; her husband Randy Houston, OKC, daughter Raquel Lizzet Cooper (Rowe) (Rick), Torrance, CA, three stepsons Maurice Cooper Jr., Malcolm Cooper, Marques Cooper, two stepdaughters Jacquel Williams Randle, Frances Washington (Henderson). Also acknowledge the Haggins family, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and her best friends, Kelly, Maria and Sherri.

Her life will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and testament of love, strength and service.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Friday, April 17th at Voice of Hope Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3300 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, Ok 73121
