Michael Lindsay Maidt, M.D. was born on April 5, 1960 at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Lindsay died on September 15, 2024 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Dr. Maidt graduated from Christ the King Elementary and Bishop McGuinness High School. He went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Biochemistry. After graduating from OSU Dr. Maidt, or Lindsay as he preferred to be called, followed his true passion, Plastering. Growing up in a family whose father owned a plastering company Lindsay spent many hours working for his family business. He worked as a Journeyman Lather/Plasterer for 5 years. He took great pride in the things he would lathe/plaster-looking with the eye of an artist. He would drive by jobs he had done and point them out with pride. “I did that” he would say and go on to explain why it was special. He remodeled his first home even going so far as to stucco the outside and add a 400 ft greenhouse on the back and a redwood deck on the roof. Lindsay worked for OMRF for ten years and is listed in many scientific papers and publications mostly related to “free radicals”. Always seeking intellectual growth Lindsay attended Medical School at the University of Oklahoma graduating from the Family Practice Residency Program. Dr. Maidt worked for Oklahoma City Clinic for ten years as a Primary Care Physician before leaving to take a Primary Care position with the OKC VA working at the South Clinic and transitioning to their North Clinic. He deeply cared for his patients and his co-workers. Known for spending time with his patients, speaking in terms the patients with little medical knowledge could understand, and his excellent care and knowledge. Lindsay was truly a “down to earth” man.
Travel was certainly a passion for Lindsay. He loved Las Vegas, especially the variety of restaurants. Many trips to Santa Fe and the Sanctuary at Chimayo. His absolute favorite was cruising and had gone on countless cruises and was looking forward to the second week in December when he would always plan another cruise.
Lindsay was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Jane (Bell) Maidt; son Jacob L. Maidt; brother Christopher Maidt; brother-in-law Ronald Winfrey; mother and father-in-law Harley and Marjorie Rohrer; brother-in-law Steve Rohrer, and brother-in-law Paul Rohrer. He is survived by his loving wife Roberta Maidt; son Stephen Maidt, daughters Amy and Angie Maidt; brother Robert Maidt and his wife Karen, sister Margo Winfrey, sister Mari Imel and her husband Dean; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
