Lucille Dingman

Lucille ‘Lu’, died peacefully at home on January 5th, 2024, with her loving husband Mike by her side.

She was born January 24th, 1938, in Taylorville, Illinois to the late Howard and Catherine Berg.  Lu grew up in Taylorville, graduating from Taylorville High School and then furthered her studies at Illinois State University where she graduated in 1961 with a degree in Elementary Education.

Lu was a teacher in the Oklahoma Public Schools starting in 1989.  She was a 5th grade teacher at North Highland Academy, where she recruited her sister and friends to support the students with extra tutoring.  She retired in 2004 after 15 years of service. Lu and Mike were members of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church for the last 20 years.

She is predeceased by her brother Joe Berg and sister Kathleen Berg Martin.  Lu leaves behind her beloved daughter Barbara Lazar (Barry) of Lakewood, Ohio; granddaughter Haylee Starr and two great grandchildren, Avery (9) and Lylah (2); Kelley Dingmann Leaf; Rebecca Dingmann Kapsner (Matthew); and brother-in-law Dr. Joseph Martin of Oklahoma City.  Lucille was ‘Aunt Lu’ to large and loving extended family in Oklahoma, always present and laughing along in family gatherings, and will be greatly missed.

The family is forever grateful for the loving care of nurse and friend JJ Jones, and the assistance of Mercy Hospice in the last few weeks.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 11th, 11:00am at the chapel of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church 2400 West Hefner Road, The Village, Oklahoma City.
