Maitland Raymond Brown

Maitland Raymond (“Ray”) Brown, a devoted family man and faithful servant of God, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on March 29, 1931, Ray lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He spent over 33 years working as a manager at Sweetwater Authority, where he was known for his diligence, leadership, and the genuine care he showed to his colleagues and community.

Ray was a lifetime member of the Assembly of God church, where his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He served his church family faithfully for decades, whether it be as a deacon, a leader in the Royal Rangers, or the Sunday School bus driver, embodying the values of compassion, generosity, and devotion that defined him in every aspect of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maitland Ellsworth Brown; his mother, Elsie Elizabeth Brown; his stepmother, Gertrude Brown; his sister, Ella Pizor; and his beloved wife of 72 years, Carol Jo Brown, who passed just 7 days before him.

Ray is survived by his sons, Ron (Kay) Brown, and Stan (Tracy) Brown. His grandchildren — Matthew (Lyndsay) Brown; Kristi (Bill) Adams; Brittney (Justin) McClelland; and Catherine (Kody) Fairfield; seven great-grandchildren, Cutter, Peyton, MacKenzie, Kade, Gunnar, Caris and Cadence; his brothers, David (Dora) Brown, Irv Brown; sister, Nancy Hoffacker and numerous nieces and nephews. His love and influence will continue through the lives of those he touched.

A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Ray will be remembered for his kindness, his steadfast spirit, and the love he poured into his family. He lived a life of purpose, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.

At this time, no services are planned. Interment will be next to his beloved wife of 72 years, Carol, at La Vista Memorial Park, National City, California.
