Dr. Manville G. Duncanson, Jr., died at age 89 in Oklahoma City, OK on May 2, 2026. A native of Woodbury, New Jersey, born on 22 September 1937 to Manville G., Sr., and Eudora Eason Duncanson, he attended Woodbury public schools graduating from Woodbury High School in 1954. He received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from Temple University in 1960, served as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corps, and was in private practice in Somerset N.J. before being awarded a National Institute for Dental Research Fellowship in 1966. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1972 and that year became a founding faculty member and researcher at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. He was an enthusiastic teacher/researcher, and students were always welcomed to participate in his research activities. During his career he was a President of the Oklahoma Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Society, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials. Among his many memberships were the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association and the American Association for Dental Research. He was a Consultant to the Food and Drug Administration, and several United States Army Dental Units throughout the country. He retired from the University of Oklahoma as Professor Emeritus of Dental Materials in 1997.
As a member of St. Augustine Canterbury Episcopal Church, he was active as a Vestry member, Lay Eucharist Minister and in Outreach Ministries. He survived by his son Terrence Marshall Duncanson and his wife Tracie Livingston-Duncanson and their son Thackerry Marshall Duncanson of Duncanville, TX. Also, stepdaughter Robin R. Gibson and children Lauren, Tyler, Riley, Colby, Noah and Nate, and cousin Robert Howard Duncanson of Phoenix, AZ.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Janice Kaye Duncanson, the pleasure of his life, in 2010. Services will be held on Friday, May 8th at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 14700 N. May Avenue at 11:00 a.m., The Reverend Tony Moon officiating. Interment at Memorial Gardens following services. No flowers, please. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church.
