Margaret Louise Rizzo

Margaret Louise 'Marge' Rizzo, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of February 2, 2023. She was born on August 25, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to Dorothy and Patrick Capozzoli. She attended Southside High School in Pittsburgh, PA and after high school, she would go on to work as a legal secretary and for The Democratic National Committee, which would lead to a lifelong hobby of politics. Margaret married the love of her life, Maurice 'Marce' Rizzo, on March 5, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA. A career opportunity for Maurice moved them cross country to Oklahoma City where they raised their four children, Maurice Jr, Nancy, Billie and Rhoda. Marge had a passion for her Italian Heritage and her Roman Catholic Faith. She was a devout, faithful Catholic. She loved her hometown of Pittsburgh and anything and everything Pittsburgh, but especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watching her Steelers play on Sunday in her Steeler's room with her family brought her so much joy and excitement!Margaret was a wonderful homemaker who cooked the best and biggest meals, kept the cleanest house, made the best Italian bread and had the best smelling laundry. She took so much pride and joy in her children and her home. She never missed an opportunity to be a home room mother, brownie leader, den leader or volunteer for a funeral dinner. She never met a stranger and anyone was welcome in Nunna's house! It is without a doubt, that her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who we all know as "Nunna" or "Nunny". She loved and cared for them so much and they felt the same for her. She always had a special surprise or cash to give them each time she saw them. She made it a point to have a special relationship with each one of her grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren. She was an avid music fan and enjoyed everything from Santana to Pit Bull. She loved a warm cup coffee, watching game shows and reality shows with Marce, the OKC Thunder and keeping up with politics. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Patrick Capozzoli, her brothers, Patrick and Daniel Capozzoli and her older daughter, Nancy Rizzo-Verge. Margaret is survived by her husband Maurice Rizzo and children, Maurice Rizzo, Jr. Billie Rizzo and Rhoda and Louie Self, her grandchildren: Maurice Rizzo III (Molly), Thomas Field, Sarah Mann, Maggie Crook (Jeremy), Courtney Helps (Justin), Lanie Nelms (Cole) and Maci Tate (Fiancé, Waylon Rodgers) her great-grandchildren, William Rizzo, Hadley and Madeline Crook, Samson Field, Harley Hamblen, Isabella Mann and Colter Nelms, along with countless other loved ones and forever friends. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Smith and Kernke at 14624 N. May Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at her lifelong home church, Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. Services will also be live streamed at https://ckokc.org/live-streaming. Funeral procession and short prayer will directly follow at Resurrection Cemetery Chapel located at 7500 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132. To know her is to truly love her. We are all better people for knowing and experiencing Nunna's tender love and care. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes apart of us."
