Marie Logiodice

Our sweet wife & mother, Marie Elaine Logiodice, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024, after a courageously long battle with cancer. Born in San Angelo, Texas on January 20, 1947 to Willie and Evelyn Vornsand, Marie grew up in Houston, Texas with her younger brother Jimmy, with whom she had a deep love for. Her fond memories of childhood include visiting her grandparents at the Kocich Farm in Moravia, climbing trees to read as many books as she could and spending time with her family.

Following graduation from St. Pius X Catholic High School she embarked on a career as a secretary, filling many roles in the profession, but it was the vocation of motherhood that was her most beloved role. Marie selflessly adored her three boys; be it a den mother, travel companion or shining example of faith. Marie poured into her boys the sweet love she was so well known for.

In 1975, she married Rocco (Rock) T. Logiodice and they made their first home on the shore of Lake Michigan. Marie loved her daily visits to the beach with her boys and grew a true fondness for being near the water. Though the family eventually relocated to Oklahoma, Rock and Marie made a winter home in Port Aransas often going during many seasons, especially in time to see the bluebonnets of Texas.

Marie loved to travel, notably embarking on the momentous task of kissing the Blarney Stone in Ireland. She loved to stencil greeting cards, decorate annual calendars, and without fail could be counted on to remember someone’s birthday. She loved to make others feel special and was always a great listener, enjoying to know more than be known. But to know Marie was to know her incredible devotion to our Blessed Virgin Mary, praying the rosary and abiding by her lifelong faith that she diligently instilled into her boys. A faithful, sweet and selfless wife, mother and grandmother she will be dearly missed.

Marie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rocco Logiodice. Her sons: Raymond Klechka III, Kenneth Klechka (Sherry), Dominic Logiodice (Kathryn). Her grandchildren: London Lau (Morgan), Sophie Klechka, Lois Klechka, Easton Logiodice, Nellie Logiodice and Nico Logiodice. Her sister-in-law Hope Vornsand, Ellen (Jerry), Joanne. Her nieces Elesha Adamek (Jody), Tammy (Brian) Easterwood, Jayme Gordon (Kirk) and Justin Vornsand. She was preceded in death by her parents: Willie and Evelyn Vornsand; brother, Jimmy Vornsand; and first husband, life-long friend and father of Ray and Kenny, Raymond Klechka (Sharon).

The family extends their sincere gratitude to those caring for Marie, the many doctors whose expertise enabled her to live well beyond her initial prognosis and especially the staff of Touchmark Assisted Living Center that saw to her care in her last months.
