Marjorie Fowler Waters

Marjorie (Marge) Fowler Waters, 86, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend passed from this earth to her heavenly Father on September 20, 2025.

Marge was born on October 20, 1938, near Stillwater, OK to Cleo and Erma (Payne) Fowler. She attended Cottonwood School, a one-room schoolhouse, for her early education. She often shared stories about how she skipped fifth grade and rode the family horses, Ribbon and Dan, to school. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1955.

When she was 18 years old, Marge boarded a bus with a one-way ticket to Washington DC to join her brothers. She worked as a file clerk for the FBI, and it was during this time she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Harden Waters.

Married in 1962 in Washington DC, it was there where Marge and Bob started their family, welcoming two sons, Barry (1967) and Bradley (1968). In 1970, they moved west, bringing Marge back to Oklahoma. Settling in their forever home in The Village, two years later they were blessed with their daughter Bonnie (1972).

The trajectory of Marge’s life took an unexpected turn in April 1980 when her beloved husband passed away from cancer. At the young age of forty, Marge’s life as a full-time homemaker suddenly shifted to being a widowed mother of three. From that moment on, Marge demonstrated remarkable resilience, dedicating her time and energy to working full-time while still serving on the PTA, being a home-room mom, and rarely missing any of her kid’s sporting events. Supported by countless neighbors, friends, and family, Marge provided an amazing life for her children.

Combining her love of reading with working full-time, Marge was blessed with an amazing job serving as the Media Assistant at West Nichols Hills Elementary for over 33 years. Later, she added a second job at the Bethany Library where she worked nights and weekends.

Marge battled many health challenges over the years, including a triple bypass, surviving multiple types of cancer, and waking up one morning only to be blind in her right eye. However, through all of this, she never complained or felt sorry for herself and continued down the path God had designed.

Throughout her years, she provided a home full of warmth and wisdom for all who entered. Marge taught those around her that love endures, and that a life marked by loss can still be full of joy, purpose, and grace.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her twin brothers Leo Fowler and Cleo Fowler, sister Barbara Fowler Owens, and her brother Tommy Fowler.

Surviving Marge are her three children, Barry Waters and wife Kara of Midland, Michigan, Brad Waters of Oklahoma City, OK, and Bonnie and Barry Schwarz of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by her four grandchildren who brought her so much joy and happiness, Abryanna Waters, Ella Waters, Blayne Schwarz, and Bryce Schwarz.

She is also survived by her brother-in-law Jerry Owens, sisters-in-law Jo Anne Fowler and Shelly Fowler, her beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and too many close friends to count.

Services for Marge will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The burial will take place at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 6500 S. Perkins Road in Stillwater, OK 74074.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm in the Chapel at Crossings Community Church located at 14600 N. Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. All who knew and loved Marge are welcome at both events.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation or the Metropolitan Library Endowment Trust.
