Mark William Osby was born on November 29, 1968 in Fort Worth, Texas to Harold William Osby and Georgann Lee Osby, and he passed away on July 23rd, 2023 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 54 after a courageous battle with Cancer.Raised in Oklahoma City, he graduated with honors from John Marshall Highschool in 1987 and attended the University of Oklahoma on numerous academic scholarships. He graduated with a Business Degree from OU in 1991 and then pursued his lifelong passion to help others when he received his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University in 1994. During his youth, Mark loved to be outside with his childhood friends and little sister, Marta riding bikes, playing baseball, basketball and football. He enjoyed his family summer trips to Fun Valley, Colorado for trout fishing, horseback riding and tubing. He excelled in his studies and enjoyed all types of sports. He became a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in 1981. He was active in the DeMolay International Organization where he served as Master Councilor at the Will Rogers Chapter and in 1987 was elected State Master Councilor. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite, where he was awarded the legion of Honor in 2003.Mark loved his work as an Attorney. He began his career upon graduation at Wheatley, Segler & Wheatley and ended his career 29 years later as a partner at Wheatley, Segler & Osby. He specialized in Family Law and was the Municipal Prosecutor for Yukon and Mustang, Municipal Judge in Union City, Hinton and Crescent and the City Attorney for Greenfield. During his career, Mark was a Director on the Oklahoma Young Lawyers Division Board beginning in 1998 and Served as Chairperson of the YLD in 2004. He served as the Chair of the OBA/YLD Mock Trial Committee and volunteered as a mentor and Mock Trial judge for many years. He served as the President of the Canadian County Bar in 2000. Mark was awarded the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award in 2005 by the Oklahoma Bar Association. Mark met the love of his life, Jami in 2000 and they were married at St Luke's on August 24, 2002. They built their life together in Yukon and have a daughter, Kristin who is the center of their world. Mark loved to travel and his favorite places to go were Mexico and Lake Murray with his family and friends. He loved listening to music and he, Jami and Kristin traveled all over to concerts and music festivals. Mark always had a smile on his face and he was loved by everyone. He was known to be the life of the party and the king of Dad jokes. His love for his wife, daughter and family was the standard and nothing meant more to him than God, his family and friends. He adored his new granddaughter, Kate and was blessed to spend the last 5 months with her. Mark will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew him.Mark is survived by his wife Jami Lanier Osby of Yukon, OK; daughter Kristin Osby Vincent and husband Kaleb Vincent of Oklahoma City, OK; Granddaughter Kate Vincent of Oklahoma City, OK; Parents Bill and Georgann Osby of Oklahoma City, OK; Sister Marta Osby of Oklahoma City, OK; Aunt Helene Swanson of Aurora, IL; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.Mark was preceded in death by his Grandparents George and Gin Jackson of Jal, NM; Harold and Catherine Osby of Aurora, IL; Uncle Robert Osby of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Aunt Pat and Uncle John Mikel of Monahans, TX; and Uncle Chuck and Aunt Darlene Gillette of Aurora, IL.A Memorial Service will be held at St Luke's United Methodist Church, 222 NW 15th Street, OKC, OK on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
