Martha Lynn Bedingfield

Martha Bedingfield, age 87, passed away at her home in Oklahoma City on August 8th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and memories of a life well lived.

Martha was born August 17, 1938, in Oklahoma City to Evelyn and Sterling Moore, who proceeded her in death. Martha was a member of the first graduating class at Northwest Classen High School, then attended Oklahoma City University. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Richard Sloan Dowling. Their daughter Kara was born a few years later followed by son, Wesley. The focus of her life was her family, and she was involved in all of her children’s activities. She loved entertaining at home, especially with her childhood friends Sally West McCain and Susie Reardon Bedingfield.

Martha was involved in her community having been active in Junior Hospitality, even serving as president. She also cooked and delivered food for Mobile Meals. She and her daughter enjoyed cooking together for their catering and meal prep business Busy B’s. Throughout her professional life Martha worked as a bookkeeper. In January 2000, Martha married her lifelong friend Jon Bedingfield and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2002, Martha and Jon returned home to Oklahoma City to care for her mother who had become ill.

Martha is survived by her husband of 26 years, Jon Bedingfield, children Kara Brown (Trav), Wesley Dowling (Raye Lynn), Hollis DeMatteo (Tom) and Kent Bedingfield. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Myrna Willhite. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Callan Wade (Collier), Travis Brown (Chanel), Sloan Dowling, Madison Dowling, Tyler Dematteo, Lynae Corwin and Lucas Corwin, as well as six great grandchildren.

The Family especially thanks her caregivers, Melissa and Carla, who showered her with love and attention with spa days, Coke floats and homecooked meals.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
