Martha Alice Lippert entered her eternal home on October 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Martha was born May 10, 1930, in Waynesboro, Virginia to Staton Andrew Dixon and Margaret Webb Dixon. In 1939, Martha and her mother moved to Oklahoma City, she attended Horace Mann Elementary, Harding Jr. High School and later graduated from Central High School. Martha went on to attend Oklahoma A & M College (Oklahoma State University), where she received her BA degree in Humanities. She was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority both as a student and as an alumna. While attending college she met the love of her life, Donald Erick Lippert. Their courtship was short, and they committed their lives to one another on November 7, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church in downtown Oklahoma City.
Martha was devoted to both her family and her community. She became a full-time mom to five children. She was very active in their school activities and clubs leading Blue Birds and Campfire for her daughter Mary’s troop. Martha served many years on the Belle Isle Elementary PTA board; then when they moved to Heritage Hall for high school and funds were needed for their building program, she was instrumental in inviting professional tennis players, John Newcomb and Rod Laver to come to Oklahoma City to play in a fundraiser. Martha’s skill in fundraising had begun!
Martha was very involved in her community as an enthusiastic and tireless volunteer. Her early volunteer work included serving as a probation officer for Oklahoma county teens and as a docent at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame where her life-long love of Western Art and artists was realized. In 1966, she served as a direct service volunteer at Veterans Affairs hospital and then for the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma. Her dedication and commitment soon earned her an appointment to the Board of Governors of the American National Red Cross in Washington D.C., where she served from 1982 through 1988. She served as the Board Chair for both the Myriad Gardens Conservatory and Oklahoma City Beautiful. She served as president and capital campaign chair in the early 1980’s for Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae Association’s building committee for Gamma Upsilon chapter, University of Oklahoma. This provided another opportunity to showcase Martha’s ingenuity in fundraising as she coordinated the first ever Oklahoma Hot Air Balloon Festival at Max Westheimer Field in Norman, OK.
She was the 1980 Recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for continuing service to Oklahoma City. In 1994 she received the Byliners Award from the Oklahoma City Chapter of Women in Communications, Inc. She was on the Leadership Giving Committee for the United Way Advisory Board, Community Council Executive Committee, Latino Community Development Agency Board, Chaired the task force in founding Riverside Community Multi-Service Center, was a member of the governing board for Presbyterian-University Hospitals and served at the Oklahoma Historical Society.
Martha was a charter member with husband Don and other Lippert family members at Messiah Lutheran Church, faithfully attending and actively participating in membership for over sixty years. Always assisting those in need and enthusiastically welcoming visitors to the church and to the Christian family of believers.
Martha and Don were privileged to indulge in their passion for travel with family and friends. When their family was young, they would take two-weeklong thoroughly planned out camping trips each summer, visiting many National Parks and exploring the United States from coast to coast. In later years Martha and Don enjoyed many travel adventures with friends to Europe, Asia, Africa, China, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and more. They traveled with friends through the British Virgin Islands on a bare boat sailing cruise. Many vacations were spent at the End of the Rainbow, their home at Rainbow Lake in Buena Vista, Colorado where they enjoyed fishing, off-road jeeping, hiking, snow skiing and entertaining friends. Many summer weekends were spent at the family home at Buckhorn on Lake Tenkiller sailing, boating and watching kids do water sports consummated with delicious family dinners. Many fond family memories were created at their summer homes.
Martha and Don were loyal and true to their alma mater Oklahoma State University. As Cowboy supporters, they consistently attended both home and away football and basketball games throughout their 50 plus years as alums. They shared their passion for Americas “Brightest Orange” with their children and grandchildren and enjoyed many memorable tail-gate parties before the games.
Martha enjoyed a wonderful life, created a beautiful family, and had many honored friends she held close to her heart. She was a loving, devoted, and supportive wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal and gracious friend to many. Her family will miss her holiday celebrations and delicious family meals, and her caring heart. Her grandchildren will miss the individual attention given to each one of them. Gramma and Papa created so many special memories for their family and will remain role models and an inspiration for love and devotion. She set the bar high and challenged each of us to not only dream the impossible, but to achieve the impossible because all things are possible when you have faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A private family service is planned for a later time. If you are so inclined a donation to the American Red Cross or United Way of Central Oklahoma would be very much appreciated by the family.
